Lake Talkša, located in the centre of Šiauliai, is a particularly popular place among tourists and townspeople. The Iron Fox, which attracts everyone’s attention and likes to pose for pictures, invites everyone to sit down and dream or lie down and meditate. Those who want to draw power from nature can try the energy labyrinth from stones. A modern playground, fitness equipment, a cycle track – all this will delight those looking for active recreation. Well, and if you run out of energy, there are rest spaces waiting for you, an opportunity to refresh yourself and have a snack. True nature lovers and explorers will probably not refuse to take a walk along the 5-kilometer long Talkša ecological trail, where you can admire rare plants and animals or find 150 species of butterflies.

Šiauliai Botanical Garden is probably the greenest place in Šiauliai! On 6,54 hectares, more than 4600 plant species and varieties are grown! In this embrace of nature, you will get to know exceptional plants, maybe you will be fascinated by new flowers or admire an exceptional collection of mountain plants and enchanting rhododendrons. Right here, on the grass, you can organize a romantic picnic, a colourful photo session or take part in an educational programme about scent therapy or tying bouquets.

Have you ever seen a sea of roses?! You can see such beauty with more than one and a half thousand shrubs in Ch. Frenkelis’ Villa-Museum Park, a popular destination for residents of Šiauliai and visitors to the city. Thousands of rose flowers will stun you: you will not only want to smell, photograph, but also taste. Your flowery moments will be highlighted by your favourite drink and soothing sprays of the historic fountain. Ornate benches, swings and gazebos make the park even more romantic and attractive.

The tenth largest Lake Rėkyva attracts holidaymakers, sailors, fishermen and all those who love nature and are looking for peace and quiet. If you like to watch the Sun going down, go to Rėkyva – the view here is truly spectacular, the kind that must be captured in a photo or on a canvas. You can watch the sunsets on the bridge, lying on a sandy beach or drifting on a yacht. Those looking for active entertainment will have fun trying kitesurfing, while those who are hungry will enjoy an exquisite dinner on the shore of the lake.

If you want to “reach the sky”, climb the hillfort of Salduvė (Žuvininkai), on which, according to legend, once lived a couple enjoying sweet love. Scientists guess that around 1000 years ago, a defensive wooden castle stood in this place. From Salduvė hillfort, as well as from the other two nearby, you can enjoy the panorama of Šiauliai city and beautiful landscapes. Enchanting sunrises and sunsets will give you even more energy and inspiration.

By the way, the length of the paths in Dainai Park is also symbolic – 1236 meters, which are important numbers for Šiauliai city, because that was the year the Battle of the Sun was fought and the city’s name was mentioned for the first time. Various trees, chirping birds and a natural marsh will create a harmonious background for you.
