LET'S SEE WHAT WE HAVE
Why „Résumé“? Because this exhibition summarizes the current situation of photography in the city of Šiauliai. In one place it will be possible to see the full potential of the active artistic photography of the city of Šiauliai. This is an exhibition of the works of artists and photographers creating in this particular period in the city, where the photographic image is the most important means of artistic expression. Thus, this exhibition reviews the situation of photo art in the city and purposefully encourages the further expression of photo art in the city. The third, no less important goal of this event is for the exhibition to become an ongoing annual event of the city's culture and to bring together the community of photographers for common ideas. Such an ongoing event will encourage the audience and creators to see in photography the possibility of artistic self-expression, the means of creating an individual world, the expression of original vision.
A big advantage of such an exhibition is unexpected discoveries. During the preparation of this exhibition, it became clear that in Šiauliai there are currently many creators of very diverse photo art. It is minimalism and naturalism, designer aesthetics and everyday brutality, old analog technique and digital kaleidoscopes. All this speaks of a particularly dynamic situation of urban photography. The very well-known names of the city's photo artists are grouped with unheard-of names that only the Instagram generation knows. Therefore, this exhibition is interesting due to unexpected combinations of the aesthetics of images of museums, art galleries, and virtual platforms. Such sound combinations encourage further search for the potential possibilities of the photographic image, to exploit the interaction between fine art and photography, to meet the challenges of changing reality objectively, and to express the most secret feelings of an individual with an image.
It is obvious that the city of Šiauliai has long been ripe for such an annual photo art exhibition. In the future, it can be thematic, overview, premiere exhibitions. The most important thing is that they promote the development of urban photo art, provoke new creative leaps, create another tradition of artistic expression and be very welcome.
