ABOUT THE TITLE OF THE EXHIBITION

We come across many nameless objects, phenomena, concepts that have no Lithuanian equivalent. Among them are anonymous exhibitions with only a first and last name reference. It’s like nameless children – my girl, my boy, my exhibition. We organized the first exhibition with a classmate fifty years ago. We ourselves were nameless with no experience, so it was just an exhibition of painting and sculpture. To hold an exhibition of works accumulated over a long creative period and to name it as a review exhibition of fifty years of creativity of Bronius Rudys? Such a long event name? Maybe a life review, a slice? Let’s agree that this is a certain cut when trying to create a condition that enables looking beyond the author’s visual vision, back to his past and at the same time to the future.

THE CUT OF BRANIUS CAESAR

This is the thirtieth personal exhibition of Bronius Rudys, where drawings, objects, installations are harmoniously located in one exhibition space. The main material is paper. This is already the eighteenth creative cut in the Šiauliai art gallery. First time as Branis. The name caught up with the author from his father’s house, as an echo of his childhood near the Green Forest, when he was Braniukas. Later (and until now) he returns to Vepus as the Highlander Branys. Planes and volumes appear in the section of the exhibition space, showing the author’s mastery in manipulating the space of the building, cutting it with imaginary planes, supplementing them with the glass reflections of the drawings. In this solid cut, you can feel the lines of the main axes, conventional signs, and details of different sizes, the imaginability of which creates the mystique of the cut.
