The Storm of Love is the third directorial work of choreographer David Gutiérrez. It interweaves movements of traditional and contemporary flamenco with classical and jazz music. The passionate and scandalous story will make the audience relate to the characters through dance and music. The protagonist of the story is a handsome man who attracts a lot of female attention. Enjoying his popularity and the perks that come with it, the man realises that women are only interested in what he has and not who he really is. When the man meets his true love, he finds himself at a crossroads because she is different: rebellious, strong, independent, and therefore a real challenge to be with. Moreover, the man’s need to always indulge his passions prevents him from giving in to his true feelings, which is why doubt, pride and ambition lead him to loneliness. Only the hand of his beloved can save him.
Desire is an extremely interesting emotion and flamenco movements are the best way to explore it. They reflect elegance and passion, despair and tragedy, with pure emotions sometimes overshadowed by blood-boiling anger. The characters experience passion, desires, hope for true love and disappointment and through the story, help explore interpersonal and common human themes and bring the language of movement closer to the audience.
