We invite you to start the sacred route of Šiauliai from the most important shrine – Šiauliai St Apostles Peter and Paul’s Cathedral standing in the very centre of the city. No matter from which side you drive to Šiauliai, the white seventy-meter-tall tower of the Cathedral built on the high ground can be seen from a distance. You can rest in the Pastoral Centre set up next to the Cathedral and continue your journey. Go down Talkša Street to the tiny Orthodox Church on Rygos street. There is a unique open-air historical museum – the old Talkša cemetery – behind it. Walking along Vilniaus street boulevard, do not miss the alley of Pope John Paul II, at the end of which the monument to the Holy Pope and St Ignatius of Loyola Church and the school stand. The Neo-Byzantine-style St George’s Church enchanting by its romantic lighting at night stands not far from the railway station. In the southern residential area of the city, you will find the most modern church of the city, reminding palms put together for prayer, inviting to revive the soul in the Chapel of Perpetual Adoration. St Joseph the Worker Church, opened for pilgrims in 1932, operates on the south-eastern outskirts of the city, in Rėkyva. Outside Šiauliai, going in the direction of Riga, you will discover the Hill of Crosses.
