The main task of the centre is preservation, revival and succession of the country’s traditions, customs and traditional crafts. The centre houses permanent exhibitions of Šiauliai region folk artists’ works and ethnography. Expositions include more than 3000 exhibits donated by folk artists and residents of Kuršėnai town. Vytautas Valiušis, the fifth King of Potters, donated 200 old pots. Visitors to the museum can get familiar with crafts from ancient times to the present day. The museum has a particularly rich collection of ceramic works, since Kuršėnai has long been known as the Capital of Potters.
