Akmenė District Museum was established by efforts of local intellectuals, folk artists and collectors of respectable age back in 2007.
Currently, the museum consists of 3 sections. It is the Memorial Museum of Simonas Daukantas, Memorial Museum of Lazdynų Pelėda and the Akmenė District Museum.
Five different expositions were prepared for the visitors in Akmenė District Museum, such as:
- Exposition of butterflies;
- Exposition of fossils;
- Exposition of folk art;
- Exposition of postage stamps;
- Exposition of findings in Papilė graveyard.
