In the valley of Papartynė where plenty of ferns have been growing and continue to grow since old times, a watermill operated from 1867, producing electricity and cutting wood tables (shingles). It had a factory-made turbine, two pairs of millstones, and a sieve.
The derelict and almost destroyed Papartynė watermill was renewed by businessmen in 1999, after having reconstructed the dam and having installed the hydropower plant.
Visitors who are interested in geologic and historic past of the area should visit the valley in Papartynė as they can easily find unique souvenirs, namely fossils, which are actually fossilized remains of animals that lived there around 150 million years ago.
