In 1989, the Savings Bank designed by Kajetonas Jurėnas was opened in Šiauliai. At the entrance to the bank, visitors were greeted by two seating chimeras, which were historically considered as guardians. The author of this white marble sculptural composition created in 1988 was Kazys Kasperavičius.
This small architectural object has become an integral part of the pedestrian boulevard.
Chimera is a fantastic monster. The mythical creatures sitting at the bank entrance are not scary “guardians”, but playful, enigmatic, monkey-like creatures. Passers-by found them cute.
