When the community of teachers of the then Secondary School named after Vincas Kudirka (today – Pro-Gymnasium named after Vincas Kudirka) led by the principal Vytautas Matuzas, decided to make a sculpture in the school yard that would symbolize the close relationship between the child, mother and teacher, a special spirit prevailed in the school.
The school community addressed the local artist Petras Mazūras, who warmly accepted this idea and helped to implement it. The talented Vilnius sculptor A. Plechavičius was asked to create the sculpture. Thanks to him, in 1992 a wonderful sculpture was erected in the schoolyard.
This work of art became not only a decoration of the yard, but also a living symbol that still pleases the eyes of all members of the school community – students, parents, teachers – and their guests. The sculpture blended harmoniously into the school environment, became a place for meetings and conversations, daily reminding of the close relationships between people and the importance of education.
