Šiauliai District Court is located on Dvaro Street in the former stables of the manor not far from Aušros Avenue. In the 19th century, the stables of Šiauliai manor were built of rock-face stones. After the Zubovs have departed, the stables became unnecessary and were used for city purposes. The congress of Šiauliai County peace justice was located here, and a children’s shelter was opened in the year 1875. In 1911-1914, a small candy workshop “Birutė” operated in the basement of the building. Later it grew into two separate chocolate factories “Birutė” and “Rūta”. From 1922 to 1936, Šiauliai District Court was located in the building, and during the Soviet years, the People’s Court was here.
