The gray granite monument to Povilas Višinskis – the Lithuanian national movement activist of late 19 and early 20 centuries, publicist, educator, Lithuanian literature developer, who brought Žemaitė, Šatrijos Ragana, Lazdynų Pelėda to the Lithuanian literature – is built at the intersection of Vilniaus and P.Višinskio Streets. He was a personality characterised by exceptional public spirit and activeness, mature mentality and unique persuasiveness, who played an important role in the development of the concept of modern Lithuania.
The author of the monument Stasys Žirgulis together with architects and V.E.Makštutis and V.Mazuronis built the monument in 1991.
