A unique outdoor exposition of ancient locomotives, acquaintance with the exhibits reflecting the history of railway and the children’s greatest joy – the railway model with functioning toy locomotives – await visitors at Šiauliai Railway Museum.
Šiauliai Railway Museum was founded on September 4, 1971, commemorating 100th anniversary of Šiauliai railway station. The establishment of the museum was initiated by the then head of Šiauliai railway station Aronas Petuchovskis.
The museum exposition familiarises visitors with the history of railways since 1871 until our days: a glass with engraved letters “ЛРЖД”, dated 1880; a telephone apparatus “SIEMENS HALSKE” (1st half of the 20th century), a unique oak chair with engraved letters “LG” (the first half of the 20th century), placed in the restored ticket office of the interwar Lithuanian railway station; one can take a picture near locomotives exhibited in the territory PT-4-153 (1948), L-0106 (1947) and see other exhibits totalling about 6000.
The museum offers a variety of educational activities for young visitors.
