In 1937 on 15th of March, in Pakruojis, the state fourth-order public library was opened. Teacher Aleksandras Kripas was assigned as a librarian. In addition to library work, he was also working in Pakruojis Primary School. The library, which had about 600 books, was housed in a 12-square-meter room. The fund consisted mainly of religious content literature. At the end of the year, the library had about 50 readers, more than half of whom were students.
