Šiauliai Academy Information Center is the largest higher education library in Northern Lithuania, adapted both to the community of University and to the needs of the entire population of the Northern Lithuania region.
Today, this library is a bright modern space, the main structural accents of which are the ground floor hall with an information desk for visitors and an atrium connecting the four floors of the building.
Upon arrival to library, you can book a sightseeing tour. During this tour you will get acquainted with the largest Lithuanian book “Altar for Salduvė” dedicated to the commemoration of the Lithuanian millennium. Vilius Puronas is the author and inventor of the book-giant.
You will visit the Cents Room, there more than 150 thousand of lithuanian coins have been used. On February 24, 2015 the creators of the Cents Room were given a tricolour national flag by the President of the Republic of Lithuania. They were rewarded for the unique idea and innovativeness in their approach of saying goodbye to the national currency Litas and commemorating the 16th of February
You will get acquainted with the history of the university library and its building, library reading rooms, collections, unique documents and objects kept in the Dr.Jonas Šliūpas archive and others.
You will try the latest technological equipment for the visually impaired and dyslexic.
Excursions take place in English and Russian. Duration of the excursion is about 1 hour.
Excursions in English and Russian (for groups up to 25 people) cost 1 Eur per person;
for children, schoolchildren, students, seniors and the disabled people (upon presentation of a certificate) - 0.80 Eur per person.
Short visit to objects for groups with or without an excursion - 0.50 Eur per person.
