Our vision - to foster and promote the values of telephony technology, to cherish the identity and uniqueness of the cultural heritage object.
The Telephony Museum is located in a historic building (the former treasury of the city), in the very center of Siauliai. UAB Extra Services has been developing the idea to establish this type of museum for many years. In 2019, having assembled an extensive collection of exhibits and relevant material on the history of telephony in Lithuania and the world, the company opened one of the few of this kind, innovative, modern, historical telephony museum in Lithuania.
The museum organizes sightseeing tours and educational activities to encourage visitors not only to observe, but also to be active participants.
Our values:
be engaging and useful to society;
communication and cooperation with educational institutions and other museums in the city;
respect for the museum visitors;
constant improvement.
We invite you to visit the museum and have a meaningful and fascinating time!
About us
The Telephony Museum in a Cultural Heritage Building
The building is located in the very center of Siauliai city, in its historical part. It is one of the few preserved historical buildings in Siauliai. It was built in 1907-1908 and is a building of the early 20th century historicism. The architect of this building is Stanislovas Kackovskis. Initially, the treasury of the city was operating here – the Treasury House. In 1919, the Executive Committee of Siauliai County Workers' Representative Council was established in the building and later, during the interwar period, the Siauliai branch of the Bank of Lithuania. In 1998, this building housed the Savings Bank of the independent Lithuania, which was later renamed AB Swedbank. Since 2015, UAB Extra Services has been operating in the building. In 2008, the building was added to the Cultural Property Register of the Republic of Lithuania.
Contribution
Contribute to the Telephony Museum
We are creating a telephony museum in Siauliai – the first such museum in Lithuania. We aim to preserve the history of telephony and unlock the value of this important aspect of societal development. We are expanding our collection and are constantly looking for any old phones of different types and releases, their accessories, historical photos, descriptions in the press, books, postcards, etc. We are inviting you to join this idea and donate the museum any exhibits related to human communication.
Become the creator of the museum and we will celebrate your name by writing it on the donated exhibit! Thank you for your contributions and support!
Exposition
Exposition – From the drum to the 'cloud'. The history you can touch…
Have we ever imagined that mobile phones will become a necessity and an integral part of modern human life? Not so long ago, our grandparents could only fantasize about the ability to not only talk, but also see images on the phone. Now it is a reality. A modern mobile phone replaces a computer, music player, photo or video camera. The mobile phone is the most popular social media tool these days. Every day we write SMS, leave a voice message, send and draw emotions, share the story of the day with our mobile phone. We also use VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol), the next generation of constantly updated telephony technology, "cloud telephony", which can offer ever greater opportunities. Today, we can communicate in real time with relatives, friends, colleagues, the people we need, anywhere in the world. These quality services are successfully developed and provided by the international communications company DIDWW in Lithuania. Its telephony technologies help meet the growing needs of modern human communication. DIDWW successfully predicts the development of modern technologies and develops products for the future.
